The goal is not to methylate everything. The goal is to regulate the right genes, in the right tissues, at the right time, at the right intensity.

Methylation is bidirectional. The body writes (DNMT) and erases (TET) marks all the time.

Hypermethylation can silence protective genes. Tumor suppressors, DNA repair, detox, and immune-regulation genes can go dark.

Hypomethylation can overactivate genes that should be quiet. Inflammatory, growth and transposable-element genes can fire too easily.

Methylation depends on cofactors. Folate, B12, B6, B2, choline, TMG, magnesium, zinc, methionine, SAMe, glutathione — all matter.

Effect depends on location. Promoter methylation silences. Gene-body methylation often supports transcription. Enhancer methylation breaks regulatory loops.

Balanced methylation is gene-specific, tissue-specific and context-specific. There is no universal 'more or less' target.
